Step Back to 1960: An Original Fishin’ Cabin on Grand Lake
Where Grand Lake Traditions Live On
There was a time on Grand Lake when families spent their days on the water and their evenings gathered around a fish fry. Folks would fish all week long, cleaning their catch at the dock and swapping stories with neighbors, all leading up to Friday night when everyone came together for fresh fish, laughter, and good company.
That spirit of lake life still lives on at the Fishin’ Cabin on Paradise Point.
Built in the 1960s, this charming lakeside retreat is more than a vacation rental—it's a piece of Grand Lake history. Originally part of a fishing camp on Paradise Point, the cabin sits in one of the lake’s most beloved locations, known for its excellent fishing, peaceful shoreline, and timeless lakefront atmosphere.
When we purchased the cabin, it had been cared for by the same owner since it was built. We felt a responsibility to preserve its story and character while thoughtfully updating it for modern guests.
Step inside and you'll immediately notice the cabin's authentic roots. Original cinderblock walls, a beautiful native field stone fireplace, and many of the original finishes remain intact. Vintage-inspired furnishings and carefully selected antiques pay tribute to the generations of fishermen, families, and lake lovers who came before. The result is a space that feels both nostalgic and comfortable—a place where the past is honored without sacrificing modern convenience.
The Fishin’ Cabin was designed around life outdoors.
Just steps from the back door, you'll find your own private boat ramp and dock, making it easy to launch a fishing boat, spend the day on the water, or cast a line from shore. Complimentary kayaks, a lakeside deck, and a grill provide everything needed for a classic Grand Lake weekend.
Families especially love the enclosed sleeping porch, which features custom triple bunk beds designed with everyone in mind. The two upper bunks are perfect for kids, while the spacious lower bunk creates a cozy sleeping spot for family dogs. Combined with the outdoor playhouse and wide-open spaces to explore, the Fishin’ Cabin is both kid-friendly and dog-friendly, making it easy to bring the entire family along.
But perhaps the best part of staying here is the feeling.
The Fishin’ Cabin invites you to slow down, unplug, and enjoy the simple pleasures that have drawn people to Paradise Point for generations. Spend the afternoon fishing from the dock. Grill dinner as the sun sets across the lake. Gather with family and friends and create the kind of memories that last far longer than the trip itself.
Whether you're planning a family getaway, traveling with your dogs, looking for a peaceful weekend retreat, or competing in your next Grand Lake fishing tournament, the Fishin’ Cabin on Paradise Point offers a rare opportunity to experience Grand Lake the way it was meant to be enjoyed.
